June Meet & Greet
June 28th 2015.
HEMA App Track Stats: No track recorded on this trip.
Normally I wouldn't bother writing up a report for a meet & greet day but this was such a good day, apart from the weather, that I thought it worthy of a report. I decided in a rather last minute fashion to meet up somewhere sooner for those that were keen on getting a little muddy. I don't normally advocate going out after rain as so many like to do as it just wrecks the tracks in my opinion, although, none of us had huge tyres and we stayed mostly on the main tracks.
Finding a bit of wet sticky clay in the Glasshouse Mountains isn't difficult, even without the rain. There's always a bit of mud to be found if you know where to look for it. So, after meeting up at the PUMA Garage on Steve Irwin Way, we first made our way up to the Glasshouse Mountains Lookout with 4 vehicles where we stopped for a quick look, some photos and of course, used the amenities before hitting the dirt. It was a relatively straight forward route that crossed both of the main power line tracks and brought us back on to the bitumen at the end of Millwood Road near Woodford.
A short drive from there had us arriving at the meeting place comfortably on time where we met up with everyone else. Shortly after that we were guided to Kath and Gerard's home where they had very kindly offered to host the day. Introductions were made and seating organised and conversations began. At some point Gerard fire up the BBQ and we all had lunch. Each of us did out own thing but some brought along things to share as well.
I have to say that I am really pleased with the quality of the people joining this group. So far they all seem to be very straight forward and down to earth folk and Kate and I, as always, enjoyed socialising with everyone and I, as usual, ate Kim's treats. I'm sure Kim is trying to train me to do tricks or something. ha ha. I'll pay for that comment I'm sure. After lunch we thanked Kath & Gerard for hosting the event and leaving at about 2pm, 7 vehicles departed and backtracked through the Glasshouse Mountains area but this time with a detour onto a couple of other tracks and stopping to look at a couple of infamous spots such as Black Widow and The Mud Mile.
We made our way back to the Glasshouse Mountains Lookout where we said our goodbyes and parted company. Everyone seemed to enjoy the day, despite the weather, and apart from a couple of nervous passengers once or twice, everything went well. We had members from as far South as Gatton and from as far North as Gympie. I think we had a total of 20 members and/or guests on the day. Please enjoy some photos from the day from various members.
Our thanks to those that came and made the day special.
As usual, photos without the watermark may be purchased in various sizes by visiting the shop page "here" and quoting the image number that appears on mouseover or in the caption. If the image belongs to a member, you will be put in touch with that member. Any money raised from photo sales goes back into the group in the form of free raffle prizes.

Taken throughout the day and in no particular order. Some from the morning drive, some from the meeting point, some from the BBQ at Kath & Gerard's place, and some from the afternoon drive.

Because there were nowhere near as many of Kate's photos as usual, I haven't picked through them at all, I have just uploaded the lot, good or bad. I have only skipped the ones that seemed to be too alike.
