If travelling North from Kenilworth to Imbil, you'll pass through an area known as Brooloo. Literally just a few metres before the Imbil turn off on your left, you'll see a road off to the right called Whelan Road. Just a short drive down the road to number 104 and you'll find Brooloo Park. Brooloo Park is a working farm that allows camping at various locations on it's 300(approx) acres.
When you book a site here it's more of an area than a site and you get it all to yourself. We had site 3. It was a fenced area which I would estimate to be about 1/4 to 1/3 of an acre. Plenty of room for those of us that attended and it was all ours. On the Friday we had Richard & Jenny, Graham & Viv, Darryl & Carmel, and last to arrive was Kate and myself.
Saturday saw the arrival of Sue & Gary, Daniel G, Joanna, and Robbie & Kylie. Saturday afternoon we went to the homestead where they conduct animal feeding at 4:30pm daily and folks from all the other camp sites were also in attendance. All the visiting kids loved it. A black & white lamb named Zorro and other sheep, the house cow, guinea fowl, chickens, & piglets, and a demonstration of how fast and agile an Australian Stock Horse can be.
While there had been talk of a night drive earlier in the day, not everyone knew about it and some had a few drinks so we canned the idea in favour of a run on Sunday morning but overnight rain put a stop to that. There are a lot of steep slopes around the Imbil area and rain can make them quite treacherous. It just isn't worth the risk, especially when everyone has different levels of off road experience. We had 3 separate thunderstorms over the weekend, one of which produced strong wind & hail, but all passed by relatively quickly and we all survived.
Robbie and I both had a bit of a fish for Bass with Robbie landing 3 from the bank and myself landing nothing but a wet backside in the kayak. The oncoming storm definitely brought them on the bite. Our particular site wasn't the best to launch a kayak from though as it had limited access to the creek and steepish banks but I managed it, complete with sliding off the bank into waist deep water and getting my thongs stuck in the mud.
Sunday, after breakfast and a leisurely pack up of camp, we mostly all went our own way. Some of us drove South to Kenilworth to the cheese factory where various items were purchased and then we made our way along the Eumundi Kenilworth Road toward the highway where Robbie & Kylie and Kate and myself, took a right turn into Buckby Road and detoured over the hill and past the turn off for the Point Glorious lookout, past Cooloolabin Dam and into the back end of Yandina where we parted company and Kate and I went visiting,
Kate and I would like to thank those that came along and made the weekend special.
Thanks for reading.

Here's a larger screenshot of the map but showing a wider area. It gives you an idea of where we were in relation to other places.
Note the little red flag in between Brooloo and Imbil but on the Eastern side of the main road. This was the location of our campsite on the farm.
